You must channel the force
Do. Or do not. There is no try.
Dear friend,
Tired of long newsletters?
Me too.
Your time is valuable so I’ll get to the point.
I've been reading "Breakthrough Advertising" by Eugene Schwartz.
It will transform your mindset on marketing!
My mentors have been recommending the book.
And there are only great reviews online.
So, if you want to unleash the hidden desires driving your readers, grab a copy immediately.
On the same note, here are two definitions to understand:
Copywriter: A writer who creates persuasive written content to get readers to take a desired action (such as buying a product, subscribing to a service, or visiting a website)
Copy: The written content that a copywriter creates
With these definitions in mind, I want to share a life-changing quote from the book.
It may give you a new perspective on all things marketing:
“Copy cannot create desire for a product.
It can only take the hopes, dreams, fears, and desires that already exist in the hearts of millions of people, and focus those already-existing desires onto a particular product.
This is the copywriter’s task: not to create this mass desire—but to channel and direct it."
The way I see it, your writing should tap into the existing desires, fears, and dreams of your reader.
To become a great copywriter, create content that connects the feelings and emotions your readers are experiencing.
Position your newsletter and your offering as the answer to what your reader already wants.
Use this insight to write compelling content for your readers.
Reflect and form your own opinion.
Have a good day!
Your friend,
Delles
